Keeping your tack trunk organized and packed with everything you need while offsite will take a load off your shoulders. Not sure what to put in there? Take a look at my show check list post.
Additionally, here are some ideas for organization and what else could/should be in there.
Look at those trunks! See my post on tack trunk for less here!
Add a Whiteboard: Adding a little whiteboard with a mirror is super handy to stick to the inside of your trunk to write down reminders, warm up times, class times, etc. and to check your helmet hair.
Categorize your trunk: Here are some easy categories to follow: Items used daily, Cleaning supplies, Medications, Rider supplies, and Back up items.
Tylenol, Advil, Kids Tylenol, etc... Keep meds in a ziplock bag, pre-portion in reusable containers when possible.
Bandage Bags: If you set your horse up in bandages at night and don't have a trunk with a bandage keeper built into the lid, bandage bags are a great choice. They quickly and easily attach to the front of your stall and help keep your quilts and wraps under control when not being used.
Scrubs! I buy the pants at Job Lot and keep extras on hand so my kiddo can stay clean - buy big sizes and pop them over show clothes so they can at least TRY to stay clean!
My daughter, early in the morning, arriving at a show and wearing her scrubs to stay clean.
Add A Few Tote Bags: These take up next no room and make toting dirty clothes, wraps, boots, polo wraps, etc. home for washing without taking up room in your trunk. Maybe a Pony Up, Mom! tote bag? *wink*
Utilize small containers and avoid spills: I keep a small plastic container in my trunk, and my barn bag, for the essentials I'm constantly losing track of or for things that are little and need to be kept in a container. Safety pins, hair nets, extra number strings, braiding bands, hair ties, lip balm. All those little things store perfectly in small containers. Also, anything liquid that needs to be sealed like our Farriers' Fix oil.
For obvious reasons, pack rarely used items near the bottom and most frequently used items should be close to the top.
